Allison Babcock Design specializes in transitional design, which Allison defines as crisp, clean, and timeless interiors that transcend current trends. Her unique style integrates both contemporary and traditional design, marrying refined elegance, enduring architecture, and uncluttered lines. Allison was an early admirer of exemplary architectural beauty having grown up in the shadows of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia. At just 5 years old, her dollhouse boasted a curated design palette that was the envy of the neighborhood children. After interning at Nan McVey Interiors while studying at the University of Richmond, Allison moved to New York City beginning her career as a design assistant at R. Brooke Ltd. She then landed at the prestigious firm Cullman & Kravis Associates where she spent eight years as a senior project manager. It was then that she was able to build invaluable relationships within the upholstery, lighting and antique trades that have guided her designs ever since. At the center of Allison’s process is a collaborative, client-focused methodology that has guided her for decades. She believes in a team approach with architects, builders, tradesmen, and clients all aiding in the selection of materials, palettes, and accessories. Allison and her team create inviting and comfortable interiors that uniquely reflect each homeowner’s personality and style of living. Natural beauty and casual sophistication are two earmarks of the firm’s style. Their projects respect and capture the light, water, views, and indoor/outdoor lifestyle that clients so often desire. Allison’s sensitivity to an area’s indigenous vernacular is instrumental in the creation of the polished interiors for which her firm is known. Her artfully created spaces allow clients to truly enjoy the quintessential attributes that drew them to the home, wherever it may be located. Allison Babcock Design has been featured in publications including, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Wall Street Journal, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, New York Cottages and Gardens, Mansion Global, Purist, and Apartment Therapy among others. Allison was chosen as a featured designer in the 2019 Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons (ARF) Designer Showhouse. Allison and her husband, Luke, live in Sag Harbor. When she is not knee-deep crafting interiors, she enjoys traveling, gourmet cooking, yoga, spending time with her dogs, and being a mother to her two amazing daughters.
“As we cocoon in our homes instead of traveling, my clients have been asking us to create mini-retreats within their spaces to escape to. Cozy havens to step away and feel as though you have been transported. Mini spas with saunas, theater rooms, home gyms, outdoor living areas are all becoming increasingly popular requests. We have gotten incredibly creative in carving these niche sanctuaries for year-round living.”
I am completely obsessed with the cozy Verellen Sullivan bed. I love the design of the headboard that gives the feeling of being wrapped in a big hug while you sleep. I could see this floating in a big loft space or tucked into a tiny bedroom.
