Based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, interior designer Hattie Sparks Collins is the principal and owner of the design firm Hattie Sparks. With a master’s degree in art history, Hattie brings a nuanced understanding of space, color, and depth to her work. Her passion for creating spaces that nurture connection and authenticity is at the forefront of each project she takes on. Designing elegant and sophisticated spaces with a relaxing and approachable warmth, she believes in a fluid approach to interiors—no room should be off-limits, and every space ought to welcome others in and reflect the authenticity of her clients’ lives. Originally from Texas, Hattie spent her childhood immersed in nature in the mountains outside of Aspen. Graduate school shaped both her aesthetic and her appreciation for sourcing art directly from local and regional artists. She began her career as the owner of a brick-and-mortar boutique in New Orleans that showcased emerging makers and artists, and after honing her eye further she launched her design firm, Hattie Sparks. After nearly two decades of living and working in New Orleans, the city’s aesthetic influence on Hattie is vast—in particular its mix of old and new and the way people treasure family heirlooms. The ease and comfort of New Orleans homes shine through in each space she designs. With that livability, authenticity, and joyfulness in mind, Hattie uses her art history background and design philosophy to create relaxed yet refined interiors for a nationwide clientele. She lives in a historic Uptown home with her wife and their three young daughters, where family life and design happily intersect.
