Principal & Creative Director, Erin Shakoor has the unique ability to intuit the needs of a space; the results being harmonious interiors with strong visual impact. Her insatiable curiosity about the world around her is fueled by a background in fine art and surface design. Erin made the transition to interior design 23 years ago, with an eye for detail that allows her to approach every project, with a fresh new perspective. Known as the “designer to the creatives”, Erin was aptly named the “mix artist” by House Beautiful. The St. Louis native and BFA graduate of KCAI, also holds a certificate in historic preservation from Northwestern University’s, Continuing Studies Program. She considers herself a life-long student and as an active member of both the Black Artists + Designers’ Guild [BADG] and Design Trust LTD.,[DTL] Erin has reignited her growth as a multidisciplinary creative and entrepreneur. Shakoor’s aesthetic is informed by giants like, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ellsworth Kelly and Howardena Pindell. Her inspiration is found in Brutalist design, Art Deco and pre-Colonial African architecture, B&W films and fashion, of course. She has a bold vision for a future interior decor collection and is eager to start the next collaboration! Erin and her firm support numerous charities and institutions, including Primo Center, Gary Comer College Prep, Housing Works and Design Industry Fighting for AIDS [DIFFA].
