The daughter of two diplomats, Catherine spent her childhood moving throughout Europe, Asia, and the US. As a result, she lived in over 20 houses with an eclectic mix of furniture and learned at an early age how to create a home no matter where they were. Having a mother with excellent taste who always found a way to revitalize banal Embassy-provided furniture with artwork, personal items, and objects collected on the family travels remains a considerable influence. This upbringing made Catherine want to be an architect from a very young age. She devoted all her studies to this, taking classes in art history and drawing whenever possible. After receiving her BA from the University of Pennsylvania, Catherine landed at a global architecture firm in New York City for several years. She worked on international commercial projects, giving her a valuable foundation in base-building architecture and space planning. During those years working on large-scale buildings from Dubai to Singapore, she learned, much to her surprise, that commercial architecture was not a good fit. Catherine then enrolled in a Master of Architecture program but decided to defer for a year and moved to Philadelphia to be with her husband. She joined a mid-size architecture firm and enjoyed working on smaller design projects. That love of bespoke residential projects led to Catherine earning an MA in Interior Design from the Corcoran College of Art + Design and transitioning to residential interior design projects. Catherine Ebert Interiors was born in 2018. Catherine began her journey into residential interiors by renovating her home as a platform to build relationships with local vendors, architects, and builders. She has been quietly building her business, working on projects across the northeast and beyond. Today, Catherine Ebert Interiors is a full-service boutique design firm located in Washington, DC, working on luxury residential projects nationally. CEI specializes in bespoke furnishings, detailed millwork, and fine finishes for both new construction and existing homes. They work with a highly skilled group of trades that can bring client’s dreams to life with care and expertise. As Charles Eames said, “The details are not the details. They make the Design.” The blend of custom-built pieces, modern classics, vintage finds, family heirlooms, and some unexpected artwork brings a project to life for me.
