Lee Melahn is a principal at Pleasant Living, LLC, a design firm concentrating on interiors and furniture design for over a quarter of a century in the demanding world of New York City. Since the inception of Pleasant Living their net has been cast out to include projects from coast to coast in the continental United States. Their services range from complete interior architectural installations to decorating projects under a philosophy that their final designs reflect the lifestyle and needs of their clients rather than a formulaic approach. It’s always been Lee’s objective to design beautiful spaces, but in his opinion, the highest measure of good design is how well it works for the client. The firm’s brand has always been associated with the moniker, “Comfortable Elegance”. The design and production of Shaver/Melahn’s furniture are approached in the same spirit. Attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship using indigenous materials and made in America workmanship are the hallmarks of their collections and custom-made pieces. Their design work has been seen in countless international and national publications including House Beautiful, Veranda, Elle Décor, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. They have been showcased at the New York City Kips Bay Decorator Show House as well as other charitable venues including DIFFA ‘Dining By Design’ and The Bailey Hart House Annual Fundraiser.
